Amazing Adventures of Her Majesty – Platinum Jubilee Edition

Comedy /

An affectionate musical comedy on the world’s longest-serving monarch, now sadly bereft of her consort of 73 years.

As told by London’s Carole Shaw, the show’s creator and star performer, this is the story of a thoroughly modern, fully empowered female role model – she is a woman heading up a country, after all. This powerful, colourful lady head-of-state and the Commonwealth, finally reveals her “all” to her people – her undying love for her dogs, the men in her life, her single-handed success at forging peace processes, her secret passion for motorbikes and her attempts to come out at 96 as a song-and-dance gal.

You are regally commanded to join the singing, dancing Queen for a riotous ride into hitherto unseen aspects of her life and savour virtual tea, cake & biscuits and more than you bargained for. This Old Grey Mare definitely ain’t what you thought she was. You won’t want to miss the regal, older lady’s answer to Mrs Maisel.

Includes audience participation, SingalongaLiz & a quiz but certainly no rudeness, obscenity or revealing of the royal flesh.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Coming from a London Jewish family of serial joke-tellers. I started performing aged 6 while putting on shows for local children. Sister would do the choreography and I would tell funny stories and sing the songs. Have been appearing in group and solo shows (song, dance, theatre, comedy) for 40+ years, performing own one-woman cabaret-style musical comedy events for the last 30. Have attended a variety of comedy and script writing courses and performed in numerous open-mic sessions and competitions, featuring in showcases with Amused Moose Comedy Productions London, for whom I have also crewed. Appeared at following Fringes/Festivals: Edinburgh, Brighton Wandsworth, Faversham, Fringe World Perth, Adelaide, South African National Arts Festival June 2020, Boulder, Colorado, Whangarei NZ.

I like to parody powerful, (in)famous UK female characters, such as the late Margaret Thatcher and the Queen, with an underlying philosophical/moral statement, presented in a gentle, non-obscene but thought-provoking musical comedy form, involving audience participation, singalongs and quizzes.

Have had a variety of careers but was primarily a teacher, translator/interpreter, also a qualified dance and special needs teacher in secondary schools and adult/further education. Profess to speak a number of foreign languages but specialise in Gibberish and Double-Dutch. Made redundant at 50 and, despite an armful of qualifications and a lifetime of experience, was unable to repair tattered career or save for my elusive pension. 20 years on I am telling jokes and singing for my supper! Like my royal persona, I will never be able to retire.
