Hiding in the Dark is a one woman show, relevant to all audiences. It touches on a challenge at the heart of our current existence, demonstrating how unsafe it is for women and children in our societies.
Little Girl escapes the terror of The Dark World, and saves herself and Pope from the abductions, abuse and violence. Her escape is also from the vultures, who commit attacks on women and young girls like her.
She hides in a spiritual cave that while peaceful, also houses troubled spirits of the innocent victims murdered by the Vultures. These are the lost figures of young children and women who disappeared from The Dark World and were never found.
Little Girl is given a quest. She must find the pieces and bones of the missing. Through this journey Little Girl endures trials and hardships and we see her emotional strength growing with every piece and bone she discovers.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Moses Ta Mos Lechuti
Moses Lechuti, Ta Mos, is an award-winning director based in the Free State. He was actively involved in political activism and student politics from a very young age. This has greatly influenced his art. He is known for bringing about authenticity to the theatrical world. His signature lies in his love for the four elements and the universe. His passion lies in mentoring the upcoming artists and trading his skills with those who want to contribute to the performing arts. Amongst his many skills, Moses is also a writer and performer. His works have been showcased in all parts of South Africa. His theatrical show “The Singing Chameleon” won the Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in 2018.
Mannini Nkata is an actress/ theatre practitioner born and bred in Makeleketla, Winburg. She holds a qualification in Education and Linguistics which she obtained at the Central University of Technology in 2018. Maninni has managed to integrate her qualification as a language practitioner by translating arts in schools in her hometown, with the aim of expanding into schools throughout the Free State Province.
Her passion for the arts was awakened in 2005 when she joined the Zonke Bonke Community Theatre Group. She performed at street shows and backyards in her community. Through this work she understood that performing arts can be a catalyst for social change and justice. She started telling meaningful stories that people long to hear.
Maninni has managed to broaden her scope as an artist beyond just performing. She was employed at the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation. She interacted with the Arts and Culture industry on an administrative level. She managed to cultivate her passion for community work through organising workshops for different crafts within the arts and culture sector. She also worked with the Linda Botha Language Services as a Freelance translator where she specialised in SeSotho and English. Her corporate work experience has added to her success as a theatre actress, as she is grounded in the knowledge and understanding of her all aspects of her craft.
Over the years Mannini has managed to embody different characters and has told stories that address issues of gender and culture.
