Comics Choice Awards nominee Emilio Tobias is ready to do his first solo show! Emilio is a passionate and emotive story teller but he swears…he swears he’s not angry! The show is funny yet thought provoking, touching on a range of human experiences.
Drawn from his own life, hear bits from his childhood growing up in Eldorado Park, Soweto and having a grandmother with a side hustle through to raising ants through to the amount of time he spends in shopping malls. Emilio’s love for South Africa is evident in the way he presents our challenges and triumphs, confirming that we are indeed the nation with the greatest sense of humour.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Emilio Tobias is a young Stand-Up Comedian who grew up in Eldorado Park and Soweto in the South of Johannesburg. He started his comedy career in 2015 and was nominated at the 2019 Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in the Newcomer Category.
He won the opportunity to tour with SA’s biggest comedy acts (Neil Green, Robby Collins, Schalk Bezuidenhout, Loyiso Madinga and Mpho Popps). The #TrendingComics tour is a spin off of the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival and was sponsored by Tall Horse Wines. He has also been handpicked to be part of the ‘Next Comedy Generation’, event taking part in the 2nd and 3rd annual Goliath Comedy Experience at the Goliath Comedy Club.
Emilio has played at various venues in almost every major city in South Africa and Namibia namely, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Windhoek, Bloemfontein, East London, Makhanda, Pretoria and Sekunda. In 2017 he debuted his 2-man Comedy Special “How We Go These Suits” to a sold out crowd at the Joburg Theatre. The Show has since been performed in Durban and Cape Town.
Emilio’s comedy draws on his upbringing of growing up in Soweto while going to school in Eldorado Park.
