The challenges of another weekend on the streets are mulled over by a group of drug-addled street dwellers under the watchful eye of the corner vendor. Matters of intersectionality and the importance of luck are tossed around while a plan is made for the next fix.
As the youngsters look to their “Artful Dodger” leader for a plan, they reveal how they’ve come to such a circumstance and how they feel about it. Dejected by the grim fate she foresees, the beloved street vendor departs for the weekend, leaving the group to their devices. A terrible lapse from reality results in a drug-fueled crisis that could ruin all of their existences.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Khwezi Ndileka Mbina
Having grown up in a family that enjoys and supports the arts, Khwezi Ndileka Mbina has always felt drawn to performance and media. With an early and promising start in Eisteddfod competitions and language Olympiads, her knack for communications quickly made itself known.
Whilst completing her high school education at Brescia House, she found a way around the school’s lack of an established Drama Department through supplementing her studies with a Trinity Speech and Drama course and finding agent representation to further pursue her dramatic interests. She then made her way back to the Creative City in the Eastern Cape to claim her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Drama and French. In that same year she also filmed her first community-based feature film titled “Abenkolo: Men of Faith” produced by The K Productions.
Ever ready to learn, she is keenly aware of how powerful a tool storytelling can be when it comes to education both socially and academically. As a trained dramatic arts practitioner and having a flair for linguistics as well as a sound understanding of many languages, this is an ideal communicator for any role, task or story to be told. Although still at the beginning of her career, Khwezi has immersed herself in work that highlights collaboration and industry development.
Ntomboxolo “Nox” Donyeli
Ntomboxolo “Nox” Donyeli has been involved in the performance arts, facilitating and creating her own work, for over 17 years. She trained as a theatre practitioner with HQ acting for 2 years, did drama courses at Rhodes University and worked for third world bunfight (owned by Brett Bailey) for 5 years, and has performed internationally. She worked with uBom! Eastern Cape Drama Company as a performer and as a drama facilitator. She has shared a stage with well-known performers such as Andrew Buckland and Beki Mkwane, in a project called Makana, directed by Janet Buckland. She has adjudicated in the Makana Drama Development Festival run by uBom! Eastern Cape Drama Company. She is currently a director of ELESEN Production, which has won multiple awards and was recently on a tour to the Iphulo Festival at Mandela Bay Theatre Complex. She directed a production at the National Arts Festival Fringe Program in 2015, and directed an ensemble for the opening of the National Festival 2015 for the Sarah Baartman District group organised by DSRAC.
