Two Fags And A Dancer

Comedy / Gymnasium

Two Fags and a Dancer is a program that boasts three solo works presented by upcoming performers from Gqeberha, Anovuyo Nqeto, Ché Keet and Lazama Hlela. A program of works dealing with the funny, the dramatic and the queer, Two Fags and a Dancer promises emotional and theatrical variety.
• I’m Them: Shaun, a drag performer, is attacked after a show they just hosted. They find themselves in a pit of hell. Despite that, they refuse to succumb to the violence and horror perpetrated against them and countless others – many who never survived their ordeal. They wear their scars openly and with fabulous pride, homaging the warriors who came before, but were never heard.

• Wilting: Aiden, a young gay man works for a conservative family friend in a conservative town with his conservative family. He’s very good at living a double life, but his growing cognitive dissonance takes a toll on him when the isolation of lockdown forces him to confront his own voice.

• Crossfire: Yibanathi, a young all-round dancer, has an ambition to become a professional choreographer despite the challenging environment, involving gangsterism and violence. When tragedy occurs, putting his dreams at risk, he finds a way – he dances.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Anovuyo Nqeto is a well-rounded actor born in a small town in the Eastern Cape, Tsolo. He is currently honing his craft at AFDA PE doing his honours in Live Performance, majoring in screen and stage acting. He is a passionate, people orientated and a diligent young queer man who believes in equality and standing up for what’s right. He is a self-starter with a strong desire to succeed. He thrives on a challenge and sets objectives for himself on a regular basis so that he has something to work toward. He is not content with mediocrity, and he is continuously looking for methods to improve and attain excellence. He is a philanthropist at heart, enjoys teaching and learning, giving back to his
community and building himself and people around him.

Lazama Hlela is a budding actor from Gqebera, a windy city in the Eastern Cape. He is in his final year of study at AFDA PE, where he is pursuing his BA Honours in Live Performance with a double major in Screen and Stage Acting.
He is a passionate, empathic, kind, people-oriented, and hardworking young person who strives to make a difference in his community while also ensuring that he leaves a legacy for future generations to follow in his footsteps.
He is, however, dissatisfied with the inferiority that exists in his community, and as a performance artistic creator, he continues to research and design ways on how to reduce the primary roadblocks that prevent others from reaching their full potential. He is a humanitarian because he enjoys motivating people to work hard and believe in themselves,
giving to the impoverished by brightening someone’s day, and learning how to become a better person by seeing others adjust to new seasons and obstacles.

Ché Keet is a Cape Town born actor. He is currently furthering his studies at AFDA Gqeberha as a BA Honours student. Ché has a long career as a screen and stage actor dating back to the year 2014. He has worked on many film sets as an actor, extra as well as featured extra for films and commercials. He also has experience as a writer and director after completing a one-year filmmaking internship at The Media Workshop. Despite his fierce dedication to craft, he is an incredibly friendly individual who works really well with the people around him and he always does well when contributing to these projects. Ché has also worked on projects which contribute to creating awareness for social
causes.

Charney was born and raised in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape and is now working towards obtaining her BA Honours in Live Performance at AFDA Gqeberha. She majors in both Screen Acting and Stage Acting. She is a versatile actor and loves a good challenge. She is very open to personal growth and learning from others.
